In these chapters, Dickens show how bad of a life pip has. The fact that he is standing in front of his
parents grave shows that he must have a pretty bad life. While he is there he meets a convict with
chains around his legs and he feels bad. The convict demands food and a file. Pip leaves to go get the
stuff. Mrs. Joe, Pip's sister, is very mean to Pip and she beats him and her husband, Joe. She blames
Pip for were she is in life (the fact that she is poor and lives in a bad house), but its not Pip's fault.
Joe, Mrs. Joe's husband, is an extremely kind person and treats Pip's like a son. He is very kind to
Pip. Pip steals the food from his family and gives it to the convict. During the Gargery's Christmas
dinner, Pip is about to get caught for stealing the food and runs for the door but is stopped by soldiers.
